Veterinary Medical Technology Program Transfer Admission Process
Application opens Feb. 1 to March 1
The VMT program welcomes students transferring to Mississippi State University from other institutions. You must be a sophomore at your current institution to apply for transfer admission. If you are a current first-semester freshman, you may be interested in our Pre-Admission program. If you are a current MSU student, please click here for the regular VMT application.

You can use the cards below to guide you through the pre-admission application process. Transfer applications are accepted from February 1 through March 1 of each year.
Step 2: Ensure You have Completed or Will Complete All Pre-Requisites
After applying and being admitted into MSU, make sure you have the following courses completed prior to joining the VMT program.
- EN 1103 English Composition (3 credits)
- EN 1113 English Composition II (3 credits)
- MA 1313 College Algebra (3 credits)
- MA 1323 Trigonometry or higher (3 credits) or MA 2113 Intro to Statistics (3 credits)
- BIO 1134 General Biology I (4 credits)
- BIO 1144 General Biology II (4 credits)
- CH 1043 and 1051 Survey of Chemistry and Experimental Chemistry (4 credits) OR CH 1213 and 1211 General Chemistry I and Investigative Chemistry (4 credits)
- BIO 3304 General Microbiology
- ADS 1113 Animal Science (3 credits)
- CVM 3101 Vet Med Tech Terminology (1 credit)
- VS 1012 Intro to Vet Med Careers (2 credits)
- Fine Art (3 hours)
- Humanities (6 hours)
- Social Sciences (6 hours)
- Public Speaking/Intro to Communications (3 hours)
All courses must be completed with a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA PRIOR to entering the VMT program.

Secure Three Recommendations
You must secure three recommendation forms/letters of recommendation. You may not ask family members or personal friends to recommend you. Your recommenders may access the recommendation form via the link below.
We recommend that one of your recommenders be able to speak to your academic background and one to your animal handling experience. The third may be a person of your choice.
Please inform your recommenders that their input is entirely confidential.
